"Poems have a beginning and an end, but as I read each poem I found myself wanting more. These powerful poems stirred a range of emotions within me. As a former white supremacist, the emotions I felt may have been somewhat different than most. Nonetheless, each sentence sparked a new feeling or…. an “awakening”. I have read many poems, but no poem has impacted me the way “So Long, Nigger Boy” or “The Puppet Masters” has. I would say it's because the words in these poems are true and delve deep into issues that not only stir the soul of the writer, but the reader! Summing up the work in this book can be done in one word: Excellent!"

"My long-time friend Devón has written an inspiring poetry book! He has worked in the field of journalism for 20 years, so he has seen the rough edges of life up close. Having followed his work for quite some time, the question is....which is he, a journalist or a poet? I'd say he is very much both. He does more than analyze the news, he processes the emotions that result from the actions of human beings. History has forgotten some of the good human beings, yet their work reminds us to embrace "the light" and the good within ourselves. This book continues that tradition, and it's a terrific read!"
